Bayshore Trail Opens

Atlantic Highlands Mayor Fred Rast officially opened the Bayshore Trail at a ribbon cutting ceremony held in conjunction with the towns Earth Day activities, on Saturday April 25th at the trail’s opening at the eastern end of the Atlantic Highlands Municipal Harbor.

Pallone, Peregrine open Earth Week

 

     To mark the beginning of Earth Week, Congressman Frank Pallone made a visit to the Bayshore Waterfront park in the Port Monmouth section of Middletown on Sunday, April 19, to host the release of a rehabilitated peregrine falcon back into the wild as well as to hold a round table discussion on global warming and the need for natural resource funding.  Read more »

Another Cold Day in Febuary

You may have heard this refrain a month or so ago "so much for global warming". I heard it more then once, more then twice. A frigid 2 week stretch in January, complete with freezing rivers, and ice boats. Pictures on the internet, showing an Alaskan thermometer reading -65. Now that's cold. Perhaps climate change isn't as bound in fact as some scientists will have us believe. Perhaps global warming is a fraud, just as Rush Limbaugh says. Look there's snow in Vermont, a massive ice storm in Kentucky.  Read more »

A Story About Mud

Now this hardly a scientific study, I'm no scientist, I have no proven data. This is strictly observational, theoretical. But as a frequent hiker, and sometime mountain biker, I am pretty familiar with Hartshorne woods. And mud, especially mud like this, deep and thick, high viscosity mud, the kind that could take a shoe off, is rare, and short lived.  Read more »
